Privacy Policy — Puzzling Events Games

This puzzle was built and is delivered by Puzzling Events, the commission studio of Handmation Media LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”), based in Hillsboro, Oregon. This policy covers the puzzle you’re playing at puzzling.cc — not the commission process itself, which is covered separately for the person or organization who commissioned this experience.

1. Information we collect

There’s no account system for event games. What we collect is:

A cookie that tracks your progress through the puzzle, so the game remembers where you are
Your attempts, solves, and timing as you play
A hashed version of the entry password, if this event required one — we never store the password itself
Your feedback and rating if you choose to leave it after finishing, and an email address only if you choose to give one

To run the puzzle and check your answers
To understand where guests get stuck, so we can improve future puzzles
To respond to feedback you send us

We don’t use this information for advertising, and we don’t sell or share it with data brokers or advertisers.

3. How long we keep it

Your play data is tied to the event’s delivery window and is deleted automatically once that window closes, or after 9 days if no window applies. Feedback you submit is kept even after your run data is deleted, so we can still act on it.

4. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run this puzzle:

Supabase, for our database
Vercel, for hosting
Resend, for transactional email

These providers process data on our behalf and don’t use it for their own purposes. We don’t share your play data with anyone else — including the person or organization who commissioned this event — beyond what’s needed to deliver and support the puzzle itself.

5. Cookies

We use one essential cookie to run the puzzle. It’s required for the game to function and isn’t used for advertising or tracking across other sites.

6. Children

This puzzle is built for a general audience and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

7. Your rights

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email inquirys@puzzling.events to make a request.

If you’re an Oregon resident, you have rights under the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act to access, delete, or correct your personal data. We don’t sell personal data or share it for targeted advertising.

If you’re in the EEA or UK, we process the play cookie as strictly necessary for the puzzle to function, and any optional feedback data based on your consent to provide it.

If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
